This teaching unit, developed by Young Citizens, is designed to help teachers to develop students’ skills in thinking and talking about moral issues. It includes a consideration of what it means to nurture a child’s moral development via stories and a suggested methodology. It also includes instructions on how to analyse a moral story, and a discussion of how children’s moral reasoning develops. The use of stories make the morality discussion engaging and relevant to the children and creates an opportunity for them to relate to the protagonist and put themselves in their place, thereby exploring their own moral responses.
